The Soldiers Home in Local Classrooms!
![]() |
The Milwaukee Preservation Alliance (MPA) has launched a new curriculum for Wisconsin schools, focusing on the rich history of the Milwaukee Soldiers Home. Through engaging lessons, students in grades 7-9 will gain valuable insights into the Soldiers Home’s connections to Abraham Lincoln, the crucial role women played in its establishment, and the significance of historic preservation. The best part? It's free! Check out the curriculum here and be sure to share the news with the teachers in your life! We are thrilled to offer this curriculum to Wisconsin educators. The Soldiers Home is a cornerstone of Milwaukee’s history, and this program allows students to learn about the site’s history and its ongoing importance to our community. A special thank you to local educator and MPA volunteer, Jackie Jecha for leading the development of this curriculum and piloting its use in her own classroom. |
